INFORMATION NEEDED FOR A GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH

Before contacting us, we ask that you read Chapter IV – Eligibility of the Odanak’s citizenship code available HERE.

We will support you in your genealogical research ONLY if you are likely to be eligible for this code. Otherwise, we suggest that you refer to the Researching Your Aboriginal Ancestry at Library and Archives Canada.

You can also get information from genealogical societies or archive centers such as the Centre d’archives régionales du Séminaire de Nicolet.

DOCUMENTS TO PROVIDE

• Scanned copy of your birth certificate
• Scanned copy of your parents’ marriage or death certificates or birth certificates for each
• Scanned copy of your grandparents’ marriage or death certificates or birth certificates for each, if they were born or married after 1941.

INFORMATION TO PROVIDE

• Your first and last name
• Father’s first and last name
• Mother’s full name
• Date and place of marriage (if applicable)
• Name and surname of paternal grandfather
• Last name and first name of his wife
• Date and place of marriage (if applicable)
• Last name and first name of maternal grandfather
• Last name and first name of his wife
• Date and place of marriage (if applicable)
